This photo shows me on the summit of Chukkung Ri (18,209 feet) in the Everest Region of Nepal.
I am an avid runner, biker, skier, and mountaineer, and found a home in Boulder, CO, because it is the mecca of outdoor activity and healthy lifestyle.
My Philosophy
Health and wellness have always been my passion. Massage therapy is a natural progression in my desire to help others attain their optimal state of health and well-being. In the stressful and fast-paced world in which we live it is all too easy to neglect the signals that our body is sending us, trying to tell us to nurture or take care of ourselves. This lack of balance results in injury, stress, and a disconnect between our body, mind and spirit. Massage is a powerful tool to help an individual reconnect with their body and use their body’s healing wisdom to help attain a more beneficial balance in their life.
I am a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist (since December 2008). I graduated from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy (BCMT) in March 2009 with a degree in Associate of Occupational Studies in Massage Therapy, after having completed the 1000-hour Massage Therapy Certification program at BCMT in September 2008.
In the AOS program, the core curriculum consisted of Medical Massage, Trauma and the Body, and Craniosacral Therapy. My area of specialization in the AOS program was Orthopedic and Sports Massage.
In the 1000-hour program, as part of the core curriculum, I studied Shiatsu, Swedish Massage, Normalization of Soft Tissue (a modality that utilizes Deep Tissue Massage, Postural Analysis, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Active and Passive Range of Motion, and Muscle Energy Techniques), Hydrotherapy, and Integrative Massage (a modality that recognizes that each person is more than just anatomy and chemistry, but rather is also affected by emotions, thoughts, social interactions, mind, spirit, and consciousness, and that awareness of this can aid in the transformative process of healing). Along with these modalities, the core curriculum included courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Structural and Clinical Kinesiology, Somatics, and Pathophysiology. In addition to the core curriculum, I took electives in Sports Massage, Orthopedic Massage, Seated Massage, Comfort Touch, Foot Reflexology, Herbology, and various forms of Energy Work (Vibrational Healing, Qigong Healing, and Healing Touch Level 1). As a student at BCMT, I performed 75 hours of supervised therapeutic, relaxation, or Shiatsu massage in the BCMT Student clinic. In addition, I did internships at Boulder Community Hospital, Mapleton Rehabilitation Center, Christopher Village Chiropractic, and CU Athletics. I also performed community service work at several sports events, including the Bolder Boulder, Earth Day 5K, Boulder Peak Triathlon, 5430 Triathlon, Venus de Miles Women's Cycling Event, and HERA Climb for Life.
10/2008 - 03/2009 -- Worked as a Professional Massage Therapist in the BCMT Student Clinic while attending the AOS Program.
04/2009 - present -- I currently have my own private massage practice in Boulder.
